John Edwards
About
2004 Democratic vice-presidential nominee who was the running mate of presidential candidate John Kerry. He served as the United States Senator from North Carolina from 1999 to 2005. In 2013, he started the law firm Edwards Kirby with his family.
Before Fame
He became the first person in his family to go to college when he attended Clemson.
Trivia
His political career took a hit when word got out about an extramarital affair and a child he had with a mistress. In 2011, he was indicted on six felony charges, all related to his violating campaign contribution laws to cover his affair. He was eventually found not guilty on one count and the other five counts were dropped.
Family Life
He was married to attorney and author Elizabeth Edwards, who stuck by his side despite his infidelities, from 1977 to 2010. He had three daughters and one son.
Associated With
He and Kerry lost the 2004 election to George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.
